The Aitkin Dollars for Scholars scholarship program is one that all Aitkin Seniors should apply for. The application will be made available to students after the Christmas break. Please note that if the application is filled out correctly and on time, each applicant is guaranteed scholarship money (if conditions to receive the award are met).

(College Juniors/Seniors - Scholarship Opportunity) is offering up to $9,000.00 in college scholarships. To be eligible to apply for a scholarship a student: 1. This educational trust fund was created to memorialize long-time local residents, Hans and Thora Petraborg, in their strong belief in higher education and the future of Aitkin. The main requirement, aside from being an Aitkin High School graduate, is that the interest free loans go to deserving students who might not otherwise be able to pursue higher education without such assistance. USDA has two Scholars programs that offer scholarships for students seeking a bachelor’s degree at an eligible 1890 and 1994 Land-Grant Universities in the field of agriculture, food, natural resource sciences or other related fields. High school and current college students are eligible to apply for these two programs which provide full tuition, fees, books, room and board, and a summer internship which may convert to full-time employment with USDA after graduation. The Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund has awarded more than 2,000,000 in scholarships to more than 300 recipients. THE LEGACY CHORALE OF GREATER MINNESOTA VOCAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

Bernick Family Scholarship & Garrison Area Scholarship
The Bernick Family Scholarship was created to recognize the values of the Bernick family and their corporation, Bernick's. The purpose of the fund is to recognize, assist and encourage high school seniors who are well-rounded individuals in their pursuit of advanced education. The Garrison Area Scholarship (formerly Garrison Dollars for Scholars) was originally sponsored by the Garrison Lions/Garrison Mille Lacs Lakes Lions Clubs. The Garrison Area Scholarship Fund will offer three $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who meet eligibility requirements. The Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholars program provides scholarships for talented high school women from the Midwest to participate in summer academic programs on the campuses of our college partners (Barnard, Brown, Cornell, Emory, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Smith, Yale, Washington University in St. Louis, and University of Chicago). ELIGIBILITY: Female high school student in Michigan, Ohio, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, who is also attending high school in one of these seven states. Garrison Bay Lake Area Lions Scholarship:

They will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors attending Aitkin High School. Scholarships are for students attending either a 2 or 4 year post-secondary institution. AHS Dawson Strong Scholarship:

Open to AHS Seniors who have a passion for music and the arts. If you have a 2.7 GPA or higher, are in good standing at school, and plan on pursuing more art/music education please apply. AHS Elmer and Ethel Franzen Scholarship
Deadline: April 3
Open to any AHS Senior who will be attending Dunwoody College. If no applications from students attending Dunwoody are received the Franzen Scholarship Committee will prioritize applications by: students pursuing a nursing career, then students seeking a post-high school education. Nursing and Post-high school education awards are 80% scholarship and 20% loan. Paper applications are available in the counseling office.
AHS Ester Warner Memorial Scholarship:

Open to any Aitkin high school senior pursuing a degree in education. Applications are due to the Aitkin High School Counseling office no later than April 3. Recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards Program in May.

American Welding Society Scholarship:

Bernick Family Scholarship & Garrison Area Scholarship
The Bernick Family Scholarship was created to recognize the values of the Bernick family and their corporation, Bernick's. The purpose of the fund is to recognize, assist and encourage high school seniors who are well-rounded individuals in their pursuit of advanced education. Eligibility Requirements: High School Senior. must live in the Bernick Service Area (View service area list and map), GPA: 3.0 or better, and plan to attend: Two or four year college (full-time enrollment).
The Garrison Area Scholarship (formerly Garrison Dollars for Scholars) was originally sponsored by the Garrison Lions/Garrison Mille Lacs Lakes Lions Clubs. The Garrison Area Scholarship Fund will offer three $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who meet eligibility requirements. The Joyce Ivy Foundation - Sophomores & Juniors:

The Joyce Ivy Foundation Summer Scholars program provides scholarships for talented high school women from the Midwest to participate in summer academic programs on the campuses of our college partners (Barnard, Brown, Cornell, Emory, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Smith, Yale, Washington University in St. Louis, and University of Chicago). ELIGIBILITY: Female high school student in Michigan, Ohio, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, who is also attending high school in one of these seven states. Academically high-achieving student who will be entering 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2023. Occasionally, an exceptional rising 10th grader is selected as a Summer Scholar. Garrison Bay Lake Area Lions Scholarship:

They will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors attending Aitkin High School. Scholarships are for students attending either a 2 or 4 year post-secondary institution. The Lakes Area Manufacturing Alliance is offering scholarships to students enrolling/enrolled in manufacturing program(s) to earn post-secondary certificates and degrees in manufacturing careers. Open to AHS Seniors who have a passion for music and the arts. If you have a 2.7 GPA or higher, are in good standing at school, and plan on pursuing more art/music education please apply. AHS Elmer and Ethel Franzen Scholarship

Open to any AHS Senior who will be attending Dunwoody College. If no applications from students attending Dunwoody are received the Franzen Scholarship Committee will prioritize applications by: students pursuing a nursing career, then students seeking a post-high school education. Nursing and Post-high school education awards are 80% scholarship and 20% loan. Paper applications are available in the counseling office.
AHS Ester Warner Memorial Scholarship:

Open to Aitkin High School seniors planning on attending a technical program, community college or 4 year school after graduating from high school. Students must be involved in 3 or more activities in school/community which include any club, activity (within school or outside school, ie church youth groups) or sports team, have demonstrated leadership abilities during their high school years, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Open to any AHS graduation seniors or AHS students attending the second year of a trade school. The Ethel Curry American Indian Leadership Scholarship (ECS)

This educational trust fund was created to memorialize long-time local residents, Hans and Thora Petraborg, in their strong belief in higher education and the future of Aitkin. The main requirement, aside from being an Aitkin High School graduate, is that the interest free loans go to deserving students who might not otherwise be able to pursue higher education without such assistance.
