OUR GOAL:
The goal of the Aitkin Alternative School is to provide a caring educational environment that encourages personal growth and self-directed, life-long learning. Our program has been designed to give students the opportunity to complete credits to earn their high school diploma. The curriculum and learning materials are designed for students who haven't succeeded in a traditional high school setting.
Our independent study program allows one-to-one instruction in a secure, rewarding environment. The work experience program is for students who need to gain work adjustment skills and/or explore careers. All students must attend weekly in-person sessions. Credit is based on completing coursework in compliance with performance criteria AND meeting in-person (seat-time) attendance requirements. Our program is a member of the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs(MAAP) We also work with the Aitkin High School. |
